The deli department in your Homeland Store has a wide offering of meal solutions, top quality deli meats and cheeses, specialty salads, and party trays. If you want a quick, delicious, economical meal, then Homeland should be your destination.
Monday through Friday we offer a different meal of the day that is ready to take home and serve your family; and there isn't a lot of clean-up after the meal.
Already have the main course planned, but you want something to go with it that's a little bit special? Try one (or more) of our specialty salads.
You can buy as much or as little as you need and it will be just the right addition to your meal. We won't tell the kids that it's healthy. Many people have started packing their lunch to help in these tougher economic times.
The meats and cheeses you buy at our deli will keep your sandwich from being ho-hum. We'll slice it as thin or as thick as you like; and as little or as much as you want.

Specialty Cheese

Oklahoma specialty cheese lovers agree-our cheese offerings provide the perfect complement to our freshly baked bread and custom sliced meats.
Baby Swiss
The appearance of Baby Swiss is ivory to pale yellow. It is a creamy cheese with small holes and it melts well when shredded. Baby Swiss has a buttery, slightly nutty, sweet flavor. This specialty cheese is great partnered with sweet fruits and berries, croissants and muffins, or even with just a glass of ice-cold milk.
Danish Blue Cheese
This is a drum or block shaped, creamery cheese made from cow's milk. This specialty cheese has a sharp taste, a salty bite, and is very creamy in texture. The white interior is in contrast to the blue-black mold which is gritty and salty. The cheese ripens in 2 to 3 months and is used as a table cheese. It is very good in salads, or with dark breads, or fruit.
Domestic Edam Cheese
A pressed, semi-hard to hard specialty cheese made from cow's milk. The ball shape covered in red wax make this very distinctive in the cheese case. Edam is made from skimmed or semi-skimmed milk and is usually consumed "young" making the texture elastic and supple. The flavor is smooth, sweet, and nutty. A black wax coating means the cheese has been "matured" for at least 17 weeks. This cheese is an all-purpose favorite.
Domestic Gouda
Gouda is named after the Dutch town just outside of Rotterdam. Gouda accounts for more than 60% of the cheese produced in Holland. It is a traditional, creamy, hard cheese that is round with a very smooth, yellow, waxed rind. The flavor is sweet and fruity and as time passes the taste intensifies and becomes more complex. "Mature" (18 or more months) Gouda is coated in black wax. Gouda is a specialty table cheese and a dessert cheese and is excellent with fruit or used for fondue. Gouda is considered to be one of the world's greatest cheeses. This has become one of the most popular specialty cheeses in Oklahoma delis.
Emmental Swiss Cheese
Swiss cheese has a firm texture, and is known for being pale yellow with large holes. The flavor is mild, sweet, and nut-like. Processing is designed so that no rind forms on the cheese by maturing in vacuum-packed plastic wrap. Swiss cheese is often eaten with fruit or meat. This delicious specialty cheese provides a great compliment to salads and sandwiches purchased at Oklahoma Homeland delis.
English Cheddar Cheese
Cheddar cheese is the most widely purchased and eaten cheese in the world. Originally made in England, they are manufactured in many countries around the world today. Fully cured Cheddar is a hard, natural cheese shaped like a drum 15" diameter, with a natural rind bound in cloth. Normally, Cheddar ranges in color from white to pale yellow, however some have color added giving the cheese a yellow-orange color. Cheddar is always made from cow's milk and is slightly crumbly. The longer it matures the sharper the taste. Maturation usually happens in 9 to 24 months. Cheddar is great by itself, with crackers, or cooked in casseroles, sauces, or soups.
French Brie
Brie - also known as The Queen of Cheeses - is one of the great dessert cheeses. It comes in either a 1 or 2 kilogram wheel and is packed in a wooden box. Brie should be served at room temperature to be able to enjoy the full flavor. There are various varieties and flavors of this specialty cheese-Oklahoma delis have a friendly and knowledgeable staff that will be glad to help you choose one to compliment your meal.
Gorgonzola
Gorgonzola is a traditional, creamery blue cheese. The greenish-blue penicillin mold gives this cheese a sharp, spicy flavor and provides an excellent contrast to the rich, creamy cheese. The village for which the cheese is named is in northern Italy. Gorgonzola can be made from pasteurized or unpasteurized milk and the mold is added. After about four weeks the cheese is pierced with thick needles to encourage the spread of the mold. Gorgonzola ripens in 3 to 6 months. The cheese is usually wrapped in foil so that it remains moist. The color ranges from white to pale yellow and the marbled mold gives it an unmistakable look. The taste ranges from mild to sharp depending on the age. Gorgonzola is excellent with fruit, or melted over potatoes, or crumbled in salads and dips.
Havarti
Havarti is a traditional, creamery, semi-soft cheese. The rind is a "washed" rind, and the cheese has irregular holes throughout. An enriched version of the cheese has added cream giving it a softer and more luxurious feel. Havarti is named after the farm in Denmark where it was developed. The mild, tangy taste is an excellent choice with breads, crackers, or can make a meal seem quite elegant. Homeland offers several varieties of Havarti - try them all and choose your favorite.
Jarlsburg
Jarlsburg is a traditional, creamery, hard Norwegian cheese. It is the world's most famous "Baby Swiss" specialty cheese. It has the consistency, texture, and hole formation of Swiss Emmental, but the flavor is more nut-like and sweeter. It is golden yellow with various sized holes. A full wheel of Jarlsberg weighs about 20 pounds; 1/10th the weight of Swiss Emmental. Jarlsburg can be used as a snack cheese, table cheese, dessert cheese, or sandwich cheese.
Mozzarella
Mozzarella is a spun-curd, buffalo milk cheese originating in southern Italy. Pasteurized milk is curdled at 90 degrees and is left in the vat so that the curd can sink to the bottom, and allowing the lactic acid to soften the curd making it easier to knead. The curd is then treated with 200 degree water and is kneaded. Then pieces are broken off, and salt is added making it ready to go to the market. Fresh Mozzarella is usually packaged in water or whey and is softer and sweeter in flavor. Mozzarella is great paired with tomatoes, in salads, or over meat dishes. The more common variety of Mozzarella is dry and less delicate in flavor. Mozzarella melts wonderfully which is why it is such a great topping for pizza. While this cheese may seem commonplace, we carry a wide variety of specialty mozzarella cheeses to jazz up your favorite foods.
Parmigiano Reggiano
This is a traditional, unpasteurized, hard cheese made from skimmed cow's milk. The drum shape has a hard, sticky, yellow to orange rind. Parmigiano Reggiano weighs 75 pounds and must be cut with a saw. The aroma is sweet and fruity, the color yellow, and the taste is fruity. This cheese is primarily used as a grating cheese, and is a great topping for soups, pasta, veal, chicken, or salads.
Provolone
Provolone is an all-purpose specialty cheese used for sandwiches, cooking, desserts, and grating. It is made from cow's milk and is traditionally creamery, stretched curd cheese originally from southern Italy. The flavor is mild and smoky and the texture is firm. The cheese comes in various shapes. The thin, hard rind is golden-yellow and shiny, and is sometimes waxed. There are various typed of Provolone. This is one of our featured specialty cheeses-Oklahoma residents love this cheese on their Homeland deli sandwiches.
Cheese Serving and Storage Suggestions
- Unpasteurized cheese should not be sliced until purchased.
- Wrap blue cheeses completely as mold spores spread quickly; not just to other cheeses, but also everything close by.
- Chilled cheeses should be taken out of the refrigerator 1 1/2 to 2 hours before serving. This will make them easier to serve.
- Cheese contains living organisms and should not be cut off completely from air, yet it is important not to let cheese dry out. Loosely wrap cheese in a breathable wrap such as wax paper or cheesecloth.
- Do not store cheese with strong-smelling foods. As cheese breathes it will absorb other aromas and this will spoil the taste.
- Wrap soft cheeses loosely. Use waxed or greaseproof paper rather than cling film.
